Final Submission

Finally our last post, the final submission.

As can be seen, we have produced 2 different videos which were done by myself/lynn and Eunice. However, although both videos are nice, we had to decide on 1 as our final submission as li wen would not accept two.

After discussing with the group members (unfortunately eunice did not join), we agreed that we should post 'sean/lynn version' with the title, 'Love Hurts'.

aha..Finally is time to show the final outcome. I used 2 days to create this video. From don't know anything, I learned how to create this. I really learned a lot of things from this although did not slept well for 2 days. But I think is worth.

I used Windows Movie Marker to create it. And the amount of pictures that I used is about 314 pcs.

This is my first try without music and any effect.

And after 2 days of trying, I done this final outcome. The duration of this video is 3 fps. I included 5 music into this video according to the mood and storyline. Actually I am quite happy and satisfied with it.

The final outcome - Sean&Lynn version

so many days have passed, and our final submission day is right infront of our eyes. I am pretty sure many others including even my group members are in hurry to finish their animation.

However, lynn and i have spent almost 2 days sleeping late and sitting on the chairs for hours, we could produce an animation before our deadline.

Throughout the whole process, we gained lots of experience in terms of firstly getting to know a lot about stop motion, and also the skill to produce a stop motion animation using a program. Just to master(if we can say so, although we are still very at beginner's level) the program, we searched videos, documents, tutorials, guidelines etc all over a place called internet, and as a result, our animation was produced.

Before we 'ta-da~' our animation, i would like to explain about the program we used.

The program we used is called 'Adobe Premiere Pro'.

Although there are quite a number of programs that we can use to produce an animation, based on our research, we have found out that Premiere Pro is the most commonly used program to create animations and in fact, more advanced than those such as Windows Movie Maker or so on.

This is the thing that pops up when it's first opened. usual 'Adobe' look.

This is the workplace.

In the work place, there are sequence, where i do my work on, effects, where i can apply video and audio transitions, monitor, where i can watch what is going on. i had to place all our pics that are 303 pictures in total. What i did first, was to make a first draft which only timing for each frames were edited. Basically just a video that does not have any effects, title, audio.

And this is the one.

Then when this was done, i used Premiere Pro again to edit things one by one.

First, i started off with adding the song. I used the song called 'Love Hurts' by Incubus which then later on i decided to use also as the title. After adding the song, i used video transitions to enhance the video to have some effects in it and also, the title, and the last part saying 'Thank You'

This was the last scene before i last saved as an .avi file.

The video was finally done, with duration of 3 fps meaning 3 frames per second.

One thing i kind of regret, is that we did not take enough pictures to improve the video's quality which can be done by having it with a duration of 6~12 fps. But i am still satisfied with it, and too, lynn and i are proud of ourselves.

Seems like the eunice and lynn have explained about our basic story and the so called 'casting' which are our little buddies made of clays, so i wil just skip that part.

Well, as explained below, lynn and eunice were the 'designers'. And what was i? i was the director to shoot all the pics which were going to be turn out as our 'frames'. We have taken about 14 hours in process of making and shooting through 2 days. I don't know if other groups take even longer, but it was tiring, yet, fun and experiencing.

Oh one thing, there were so many ants everywhere eating off our flash for free and we had to suffer that. Maybe thats the part i didn't really like.

Work of Progress Day 1- Part II

Halo, everyone.. Is time to post again.. As what Lynn said, I am quite surprise for the work of progress too because it is not really take us like whole week just to capture photo. We used about 3-4 hours for day 1. We having the photo session at the field that located opposite of my house, where is nearby The One Academy, PJS 9. Sean and Eng Yik took the post of photographer. Then, Lynn and I were using clay that got jasmine smell to form the caterpillar, pupa and butterfly. I will show you guys some photos..

Progress.....tada..DAY 1

Okay, I should start posting the progress first since the others are busy with their stuff. I cannot really remember which day we bought the clay but it was quite expensive. The expensive ones smell nice like jasmine tea according to what Yik said. The cheap ones smell like…………….and stupid me forgot to bring the camera stand so we did it the next day. Day 1, we actually managed to finish half of it in one day, which I felt quite surprised.

DAY 1 Progress picture:

The big packets are the ones smell like Jasmine Tea. They are not sticky and even on the next day we took out they were still not harden yet.

I was trying to move it really slow so Director Sean can take picture of it.

my sketch is talk about how is the alien's come form the egg and became to the real alien's. actually it is just for visual view only.. there is no any story line to support it....

Sketch & Research

Four of us had asked to give an idea about the storyboard. After thinking for hours, here is my result.

Basically the story is about the transformation of caterpillar to butterfly. And there is a storyline. It goes like this.
There are 3 caterpillars, one of them is ugly compare to another 2. It named Ms. Brown. Ms. Brown is ugly, but it is kind. Then, come to another 2 caterpillar, Ms. Leng & Ms Cute. They are very arrogant. They do not want to play Ms. Brown because they think she is ugly. Ms. Brown is sad, so she goes to eat leaves while they are playing. Then after few days, is time to transform to pupa. In that process, Ms. Brown is more healthy compares to Ms. Leng & Ms. Cute. After that, they all become butterfly. Ms. Brown become a very beautiful butterfly, but Ms. Leng & Ms. Cute are ugly. They feel ashamed and stay far away from Ms. Brown.

Sketches, Stories , Everything =S

The picture above is my stop motion animation sketch; the theme is “Transformation". So everyone of us had to draw out at least one sketch unfortunately mine wasn’t chosen because my sketch didn’t really showed the "transformation" Alright, here is my story, it is about stones form into tiny human shape, at first there are only two girls with ribbon and they become best friend easily as there are no one else there. Therefore, one day they decide to take a short walk along the beach. When they are holding hands and walking together, suddenly they see a boy lying down on the sand. They are quite surprise as they could not believe that there are any other “one of theirs kind”. Then, the boy suddenly wakes up and tells them he was sleeping just now. Once the girls see him, instantly both of them fall in love on him. Both of them are helping him by holding his hands to hold him up. After that, both of them realize that they like him, so both of them are pulling him. At first the boy feels really happy because there are two of the girls like him.( I think most of the guy think that way, make them feel more proud=p) In the end after so much of struggle, the boy couldn’t stand and he breaks into pieces. The girls become best friend again, leaving the boy alone there. THE END!!

So yeah, that is all for the story. My story is about love, friendship and I got this idea from some movies and part of it from my experience.

My sketches and My stories :P

These are my sketches for the visual com's second project, the stop motion animation. It's so sad that it can't be viewed clearly as my sketches were too small and why? oops.. i used a F pencil which is i guess.. super light. Basically, our main theme is transformation and as for me, i have tried to focus on the theme itself rather than a story. Therefore i used something that naturally happens in our life which is something called 'growth'. Well basically, i have used a story of a flower which becomes from a seed, to a flower, then even a tree. Yes i am pretty sure this is kind of non sense if anyone hears.. a flower to a tree? but in my mind, in an animation anything could happen. It is where an imagination can come into a real life. I even have a story too. The story apprently starts from a seed. Skipping those boring common sense part which is the growing part where im sure everyone even my little brother knows, the flower grows up with a dream of becoming a unique self with its own beauty and.. become a tree in the future -_-; Well everything goes on fine and it finally becomes a tree wow.. But the pollution that humans create makes it die. Wow..
Well although this story seems stupid and childish, i wanted to bring out a story that can teach something into our minds that we tend to forget most of the times. And to relate this to a stop motion animation, i really think it can be a good one, and ofcourse what based on our theme 'transformation' can be happened in my story.

Well this is my first post and too bad im sad about it because my sketches can be barely seen :(
